The success of this carefully processed video performance was dependent on the implementation of a signature freeze frame technique. To begin the procedure, a still frame of the video sequence was captured at a moment where the performer’s fabric took on an interesting shape. The content surrounding the fabric was masked out of the frame using photo-editing software. This video work aimed to capture a unique artistic performance and modulated it to give it a new shape. This work took place on a bleak snowy space where lengths of fabric were waved about in a flurry of gestures.
In a landscape of temporary sterility, patterns emerged from the performer’s manipulation of the flowing fabric. Capturing the view from above, this artwork gives viewers the perspective of a painter, enabling them to perceive an entire canvas in their mind.
